Teen Council

Composed of 12 young arts enthusiasts, Teen Council serves as the Museum’s vehicle for attracting the city’s teen population to CAMH and exposing them to the vibrant field of contemporary art. For council members, the group serves as a highly collaborative creative incubator that opens up opportunities for leadership, visual literacy, and life skill development. During weekly meetings, the council is introduced to the inner workings of museums and to the dynamic Houston arts community. Teen Council activities are decided upon by it members and can change from year to year, but past events developed by the Teen Council include art markets, exhibitions, fashion shows, film screenings, listening parties, music festivals, and poetry readings.

Teen Council is supported by Ms. Louisa Stude Sarofim, Texas Women for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts.

Applications to apply for the Teen Council are available online and accepted in the spring of each year. High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors are encouraged to apply. We will post the application and deadline next Spring. Please check back to apply.

Call for creative minded teens: CAMH Teen Council

The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is currently accepting applications for the Museum's Teen Council (TC). The Teen Council is a group of highly motivated youth (ages 15-18), who are employed by the Museum and committed to bringing contemporary art to their peers.

TC meets regularly once a week to develop youth-oriented programming at and events at CAMH, such as art exhibitions, film screenings, music festivals, fashion shows, and more. If you have skills you think the Teen Council, CAMH, and most importantly Houston can benefit from, please follow the link below and complete the online application.
